The Horizon League announced on Monday afternoon that Northern Kentucky women’s basketball freshman Ivy Turner has been named the Nike® Horizon League Freshman of the Week. Turner garners the distinction for the second time this season, previously earning it on Dec. 2, and is just the second rookie in the league to be a repeat honoree.

“Ivy has brought our team a tremendous amount of consistency and intensity on both ends of the floor,” said head coach Camryn Whitaker. “She is a tireless worker and continues to improve her game!”

Turner averaged 10.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game against IUPUI and UIC this past weekend, shooting 50.0 percent from the floor between the two contests. The rookie guard led the Norse in scoring against the league-leading Jaguars with 12 points. She then followed it up with an impressive stat line against the Flames with nine points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals.

The Norse begin a five-game homestand this weekend, beginning with nearby rival Wright State. Northern Kentucky hosts the Raiders on Friday, Dec. 17, with tip-off set for 7 p.m. ET and a live broadcast on ESPN+.
