– After starting the season 11-2, the Eastern Kentucky University baseball team received votes in this week’s National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Poll. The Colonels are also ranked among the top-15 teams in NCAA Division I baseball in seven statistical categories. Florida is the No. 1 team in the NCBWA Poll. Future EKU opponent Louisville is ranked fifth. LSU, the only team to beat Eastern Kentucky this season, is ranked 18th. EKU is one of two Ohio Valley Conference teams to receive votes in this week’s poll. In the Division I national statistics rankings, the Colonels are fifth in steals per game (2.62) and sixth in triples per game (0.62). Eastern is 10th in batting average (.319), 11th in slugging (.505) and 12th in on-base percentage (.420). EKU ranks 14th in scoring (8.4 runs/game) and doubles per game (2.38). The Colonels will play at Northern Kentucky on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
