Eastern Kentucky University was chosen as the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Team of the Week and receiver Keyion Dixon was picked as the FCS Co-Player of the Week by Stats Perform after the Colonels’ near upset of Troy University on Saturday.

EKU took a 29-28 lead over the FBS Trojans with 21 seconds left in the game, but Troy drove 30 yards and then made a 47-yard field goal as time expired to pull out a 31-29 win.

Eastern totaled 425 yards of offense and forced three turnovers. 

Quarterback Parker McKinney was 30-for-47 with a career-best 370 yards and two touchdowns.  He completed passes to eight different players.  Jacquez Jones caught eight for 75 yards.  Jackson Beerman hauled in six for 57 yards.  Kaleb Lundy led the defense with 11 tackles, including one for a loss.  Kmare Carey and Elijah Taylor each intercepted a pass.

Dixon had eight receptions for 196 yards and caught two touchdown passes.  His first touchdown catch was for 90 yards, setting a new program record for longest touchdown pass.  His second came with 21 seconds left in the game and put the Colonels in front 29-28.

Eastern Kentucky will host No. 11 Central Arkansas on Saturday for Homecoming 2020 at Roy Kidd Stadium
